Asitha G Punchihewa is the CEO of Panacea Solutions, an organization whose core business is introducing best technologies in the world to Sri Lanka’s industrial and educational landscapes. His educational background biological sciences and development studies has been complemented by his active engagement as a researcher and a practitioner in diverse fields related to social justice including child protection, child rights, cultural rights, housing rights and eviction, migrant workers, human trafficking, access to knowledge, HIV/AIDS, sexual minorities, sex work, substance abuse, youth and politics, impacts of globalization and broadly sustainable development.

Among few dozens of books, chapters, academic papers and diverse articles he has produced are “Children on the Move in Hambantota probation district” that describes complexities of children from diverse settings who drop out from formal schooling, “Push and Pull factors of institutionalization of children” a study carried out in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka, “Youth activism and Politics in Sri Lanka” describing how Sri Lanka’s political landscape revolving more around ethno-religious identity than social justice is giving rise to a bleak future in terms of socio-cultural, economic, environmental evolution.

Asitha brings into his arguments rights, culture, science, economics, politics and technology, areas in which he has a strong footprint and combines his exposure and experience working with diverse communities and sectors in Sri Lanka and away from Sri Lanka.
